Tobin Wexley

Volunteer Assistant Intern (Unpaid), sole surviving staff, inexplicably still employed

Tobin Wexley

Position: Volunteer Assistant Intern (Unpaid)
Status: Only surviving H.E.R.O.-adjacent staff member
Supervisor: Nobody, apparently
Field Status: Essential (and probably having a panic attack about it)

Personnel Record

Tobin Wexley sat the mandatory Intake examination a number of times. He failed. He sat it again. Failed again. At some point, rather than leave, he simply... stayed. Volunteered. Began coordinating dispatch. No one had the heart to formally refuse him, which is how an unpaid intern became the only person keeping the organisation partially coherent.

Disposition: frantically earnest. Tends toward panic when situations escalate, which is most situations now. Changes trousers when stress levels spike (a detail he manages with as much dignity as circumstances permit). Organises chaos through sheer repetition and apologising to people who don't require apologies.

Field assessment: currently coordinating all contact between the Citadel and field teams via a Sending Stone. Has memorised the geographic distribution of all H.E.R.O. Groups and is managing their absence with the care of someone who still believes in the institution. His grandmother ("Nan") is very proud of his service, which may be the only thing keeping him functional.

Notes: irreplaceable. Do not let him know this — he will panic more.

[Records note — T.W.]: That's me. Toby. Tobin, actually. I've made a mess of everything and I'm genuinely doing my best. The Zeroes are doing the work the rest of us couldn't. My Nan says that's enough. I'm trying to believe her. This is still the best job I've ever had, even though I don't get paid. Even after everything.
